General Care Discussion :: Mating??

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

One of my turtles is waving it's claws around in front of the other's face; I know that's a sign of mating, but could it also be a dominance thing? Up until now I believed that this turtle was a female. And my other one is digging around underwater, for whatever reason. It just didn't do that before now and I was also curious if you guys had seen that before too.

Yes, it's either a part of a courtship or it's territorial. Females might also do it if it is territorial. They might sometimes do it to inanimate objects, like rocks.

Rocks? I can't imagine what would be going through a turtles mind when it does that to a rock. "Look at this rock. Moving in on my territory and stuff. Doing....rock things..."
