General Care Discussion :: my turtle doesnt like other turtles?

well i have a big red ear slider and 3 babies and 1 juvenile. i tried to put the juvenile eith my big one and the juvenile is a couple inches smaller and my big red ear slider tries to bite the juvenile. anyone have any thoughts on what i should do or how to get them used to each other????? please help!!!!

RESs are aggressive in nature. You have to buy a bigger tank/enclosure to prevent fighting on food or space, but eventually you have to separate them. I have read threads on aggressive and habitual kicking, biting, scratching, clawing. But this may not be true in some cases. I've seen a juvenile RES and an adult RES together personally, but they seem to like each other just fine. It depends on your turtle's behavior and personality.

Turtles that are extremely different sizes/ages should not be housed together, especially hatchlings and adults. The larger will bully or kill the smaller ones.

My two turtles, male and female, both adults, have lived together all their lives. Just recently i had to seperate them because of agression. I like yourself was looking for some advise and ways to get them to live together again without fighting...and ive discovered that there is really no way. I anyways wouldnt risk it. They might be totally okay for one minute, but if you turn your back or go out and come home in a few hours, you might find a dead turtle or two in the tank. Thankfully it was not the case with me but ive read some horrible stories here and there. Your best bet is to keep them seperate. Good luck (:
