Ok so today I saw my oldest turt throwing up. I know it's food from at least yesterday cause it had red leaf lettuce and I didn't give him any of that today. It was almost like he didn't really chew the food it was lettuce pieces all balled up and some of it was a little slimy when I pulled it out of the tank. Idk if he is pooping normaly because since day one hes been a habitual poop eater I rarely ever saw his poop unless I watched him for hours at a time. I'm going to call my vet in the am and make an appointment for friday(first day I'll have time when they are open) but I mean what can I do in the meantime to maybe settle his stomach or if he does it again. Should I separate my boys?

note he is swimming and basking as he normaly does. Still active and curious so no other outward symptoms after he thew up he went back to just swimming around and even tried eating the yucky lettuce as I was scooping it from the tank

Did you actually see him heave it out or could it be him spitting it out?

I saw him actually throw it up. He's fine now hasn't thrown up since is still acting normal as well idk maybe he has a bug or his stomach doesn't like that lettuce or even he over ate. Either way I'm taking him to the vet but should I separate my two boys until then? What can I do if he does get sick again

He is still eating as well but he threw up quite a bit of food. Is it possible in giving him to large of lettuce prices.(the small turt has had no issue with them) I'm scared he has a blockage. I know he ate some sand awhile back before I had a bare bottom tank and and may still he eating sand as my snail poo out alot of it. And it just sits on the bottom but I have not seen him do it since the switch to bare bottom. Also if it is a blockage can the vet help him fairly easily with good recovery probability for my guy?
I'm so worried. Should i just leave him alone until the vet appointment or what. I haven't seen him throw up since last night.

Maybe give a little less of the lettuce and more of the pellets (or less of both) and see how it goes. I would guess he ate too much too fast.

I've limited pellets as they were getting to much protein I only feed pellets every other day now. I just switched to greens a week or so ago so ill def try a few more pellets and a little less greens. Should I do smaller pieces of greens?

what about if it is a blockage do u know if the vet can help him safely?
Should I separate them until he goes to the vet?

I have not heard of impaction from food and I would imagine your turtle would be in obvious distress if that happened. What kind of greens are you using?

it would be from sand I used to have sand in my tank and he ate it when he felt the need I just switched to bare bottom a few weeks ago.

I switch it up everyday with red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce and mustard greens. I also bought some carrots but have not given them any yet

I haven't heard of impaction occurring with RES and sand. Have you had a good look at his poop recently?

He's not a R.E.S. He's a Cumberland and its so hard to see him poop I have 2 turts in one tank and they are both poop eaters turtley will pretty much instantly turn around and eat it has been that way from day one. And I'm not home a huge amount of time I work crazy shifts so I haven't had alot of time to sit and watch forbpoop after feeding
