Urgent Care :: Signs of being poisoned...please tell me

Here's the story.

I gave Kame a cricket who ran away into my room. Not long after my mom told me that my dad tried to scared that cricket (last night) by using anti-bacteria that I use for cleaning up Kame & Kroten's poop if they do it on the floor.

My dad claimed that he didn't hit the cricket with the spray directly, it was just to scare it off. and there was 2 crickets at that time, the one that Kame ate might not be the one he sprayed.

But I am not sure of both reasons!! I'm scared that kame might get poisoned from that cricket...But there's no competent vet that really knows about turtle. They all are expert on Cats n Dogs.

I need to be sure of poisoned sympthom before taking her to the vet....please please please help me.

I pray to God that what my father said is true...that the cricket is not the one he sprayed.

The anti-bacteris consist of something Phenol.

If a harmful amount of poison was ingested, I think any sort of vomiting and change in behavior might occur. If Kame is behaving normally with her usual appetite, then I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Thank you Steve. When I come home from work. she is doing just fine.

How long will it react? how long can I be 100% sure that she is alright?

I'm definitely the wrong person to ask about poison, but it's good that she's acting normal. Most poisons should have an effect right away, and since it was probably a one-time exposure, I wouldn't expect something to happen later. Hopefully others will offer their options too.

I agree with steve if she was poisoned she would get sick fast and you would see it.

However, not to scare you, I would watch her for a few days anyway. Because if there was anti-bacterial on the cricket it may not make her sick but it could mess with her natural digestive bacteria for a little while.

Like when people take anti-biotics for a cold or something and it gives them diarrhea later. They're not sick, it's just taking their system a little while to rebalance itself.

Also- if the cricket was alive when you caught it, it should be fine. If the anti-bacteria didn't kill/hurt the cricket it shouldn't hurt a turtle.

The cricket was alive, that's why I had no hesitation when I give it to her.

Yeah i think she is good, if she was really poisoned it would of messed her up pretty quick.
