Hey my name is Jodi and i have just adopted two RES, Rocko a 5yr old male and Heifer a 9yr old female. I know very little about these animals but am reading up FAST. I'm a trained vet nurse but we have very few reptiles in NZ so very little training other than signs of ill health. I am amazed at these animals, i thought they would be a bit like fish and fairly oblivious other than to food but they aren't like that at ALL! they are so interactive and SO COOL! I'm glad i found this website it has been invaluable.
1 DSH cat silver tabby 8 yrs-Mushroom Magee
1 Sphynx chocolate 5yrs- Shady
1 male RES 5yrs- Rocko
1 female RES 9yrs- Heifer
1 TB 9 yrs-Lady Gaga
1 Dogue de Bordeaux 6 yrs- Ted

I have two female red ear sliders.
Chimpy - 5.5 inches
Chompy- 6.0 inches
Both were born about 7/2007
Got them -- 9/2007

kia ora,
we in nelson and in similar situation. iv had my two rescued RES for a few months now. trying an outdoor pond with them. not sure how old mine are but they about the size of a dvd case. i know what you mean about getting info etc in NZ, this site has been great so far.
