Ok, perhaps more for myself ;)

That's right, the mother of canister filters, the Fluval FX5.
Don't get me wrong, my 404 was still operational, doing a satisfactory job, but it was requiring more and more babying. Big Al's had them on sale for $249, and I got a nice juicy GST (or was it PST?) rebate cheque.

Did a 90% water change, and even scrubbed his rocks.

"Please to let me out of clear box now?"

Does that look good under is tank, or what?

Ralph is basically oblivious, since his rock is in the same place

Anyhow, it's my 2nd FX5, and I highly recommend them to anyone with a 55 gal or larger :)

They're great! I used all the media from my 404, and it filled it up quite nicely!

Congrats! That will be my replacement filter for my Rena XP3 if/when I need to replace it! I wish I spent my rebate check on useful things. ;)

One other thing, which I just remembered as I was watching Frankie trying to lift her intake up (), I took the suction cups off Ralph's intake before I even put it in the tank. Just a tip for anyone who may be getting an FX5 :)

oh wow, thats nice. I need to get a canister filter. I placed an order for an Ehiem Pro but it was on back-order for 3 months. So I said, "forget it". I will check this one out though. Thanks for the tip.

I plan on saving a little bit of maney every time I get paid, when I get a job, and once I get to about $500 I'm going to Petsmart! :)

HA, your gonna LOVE it. I went from a...zoomed 501(on the 20 gal), a pathetic excuse for a filter, to the big bad FX5 on my 75 gal. and it's great.
