Feeding and Nutrition :: Which pellet is best?

Muahaha Just picked Mary Jane up 2 bags of Mazuri for $10 good deal eh? The local pet store I go to had it on sale because it expires on Oct 8th so I couldn't pass up the deal. Keeping one in the freezer to help keep it fresher. I cant wait til' I finish off the Wardley's so she can get some real food in her haha.

You can always mix the wardley's with mazuri. I had 1/4 a can of wardleys left when we bought reptomin, so I just dumped in reptomin and shook it up. So when I feed Mikey, he gets mainly reptomin but some wardleys as well.

Well I'm gonna finish off the Wardley's since I only have about 2 feedings left. If I did have more I would consider the mix, but as of now I'll wait it out... Impatiently haha

I don't really care for mixing pellets.

I rotate like mazuri for one week, Reptomin the next week.

Because I like to know what squirt is getting, and I like to just be able to grab 6 mazuri or 5 reptomin without thinking about a head size amount because of different pellet sizes. 6 mazuri or 5 reptomin is his head size amount.

Currently I feed Reptomin Sunday - Friday and Nutrafin Saturday. But once we can get a hold of Mazuri it will be Mazuri- Sun, Tues, Thurs, Reptomin- Mon, Wed, Fri and Nutrafin- Sat.

To the people who feed Mazuri, can anyone direct me to an online store that sells it in it's actual packaging?

Chris- Have you tried to use a pill container for food storage? I fill it up weekly so I don't have to count out the food daily and he doesn't get overfed.

The only place that sells it in its own packaging I know of is from Mazuri directly.

But it is all backordered right now til 10/13.

And the place I ordered it from, turtlestuff.com, took forever to get it to me, and it didn't come in a package.

And no I haven't used a Pill container. Thought about it, but maybe I'll get one. I keep all the different turtle pellets in Snapware containers labeled out, so it may be helpful to not have to worry about spilling a large bin of food.

For a while I used the regular reptomin container and pill container are so much easier. I count it all a week before (they have monthly ones too) and can take in account treats and stuff like that easier. Plus the baby reptomin pellets are so small! I personally would never go back.

Not quite sure what you mean? the clear bag i got was labeled "FT" so I am guessing that meant freshwater turtle.

I just put it in the snapware containers to keep it fresh.

I guess I just assumed that it could get switched with a cheaper food. It's happened with my cat's treats.

that is very excessive. they should only get however much could fit in the head if it were hollow. they should eat everyday if they are under 4 inches and every other day if over 4 inches

From reading all the info on this forum I thought so Daniel, so I sent a link from this site on feeding and nutrition to the company (Hikari) in Japan and the U.S. distributor. Hopefully it might help. I get large bags that have no feeding instructions on them (thankfully!) but their small retail bags have the twice a day instructions as well as the web sites selling their products! I just discovered this today when I went on their site to get more info on ingredient breakdowns.
