Habitat - Indoor :: New basking area.

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I have a 10 gallon tank, and I just can't get anything bigger, so I decided to raise the basking area a little higher. Vien loved the floating dock, but she was also always in the water with it, so I took a cheap container and hooked it onto a terrarium hood. I am pretty much broke right now, and Petco is being stupid...they only have those useless docks.

Is this alright? She is freaked out about it, but then again, she's usually freaked out about everything.

It's pretty close to the light, but the heat lamp isn't even hot.

By the way, she really loves her new lamp.

And also, is it safe to use a regular sponge inside of it. It looks pretty plain, and I already got the sponge.

Interesting quick fix, it's definitely a good idea for people on a low budget. If you can't afford a bigger tank, check out Craigslist or garage sales, you might find a bargain.

Neat idea! You may have to empty out water from inside once in a while though :)

I'd cut down the lower edge of the entrance so that it is at water level. It'd be a heck of a climb for your turt.

I don't think thats a good idea. That edge is going to be pretty rough and will end up bruising your turtles shell.
