I put big rocks, that looks like crystals in the bottom of my tank and they love checking them out even know there always there :D I have pink pebbles in the bottom of my tank and they never seem to bother them, They make "Turtle Pebbles" at Petco, thats where I got mine, There in the turtle section and there big enough that they can't eat them. I don't really think that pebbles are any harder to clean than river rocks, because I use a gravel cleaning tube that is sold for aquarims and it works just fine that way. There not that hard to clean you can get one at walmart.

I know some people have rubber duckies floating at the top. That should be too hard to pop!

My ex-turtle loves to spend his day wooing a plastic turtle in his tank :D He doesn't anymore since I took the plastic turtle with me! Sorry Roca! lol

The turtle that I have now likes to swim with his fish. Not eat them, but swim around with them. Maybe he thinks he's a fish? LOL

Our turts have "Tiki Man". He's a small (4 inch) statue of one of the Easter Island Moai statues. He is made for aquariums so I am sure it is okay for them to rough-house with him.

At any rate, Ru and Sara love to knock him over, tumble with him, and flip him, too. On water change days, we always set him up nicely, bury his base in some rocks (our substrate is a layer of 2 - 4 inch rocks), then watch the fun! We take bets on how long it will take Tiki Man to get knocked over.

OH! And how can I forget the turtle-cuzzi? We put a 5" round air stone in a flat plastic dish and covered most of it with the substrate rock to keep it down. Sara and Baruch both love to hold onto the airline and stand on their hind legs on the stone so the bubbles flow over them!
