Habitat - Indoor :: Haven't Cleaned Tank

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I clean my tank frequently and change the water. I also filter it. This weekend I got a cold and I missed my weekly cleaning and I didn't clean it. But I plan to today. Will this cause any unhealthiness in my turtle?

I don't think being behind a few days will hurt any. It depends on how dirty the tank is and how well the filter is working. But you should be fine. You should be commended for keeping such a regular cleaning schedule. :)

How big is the tank, how much water is in it and what kind of filter do you have? Does your water foul up quickly?

If you normally clean the tank and change the water weekly, how much longer than usual has your turtle gone without a cleaning and water change? If you normally are faithful about keeping the tank clean and water quality up, going a bit longer once in a while shouldn't hurt a healthy turtle.

It's a 20 gal. and almost filled more than half way like 13 inches. I have an AquaClear waterfall filter it can clean up to 20 gallons. I don't know if the water fouls up quickly but I don't smell anything and it looks clean the filter's always running, there's no uneaten food left inside.

My turtle has never gone without a cleaning for more than a week.

Wow you guys are devoted! I could never clean every week!! Granted there is a big different between cleaning a 20 gallon and a 75 gallon. but still! haha i don't think i'd like cleaning even a 20 gallon every week! haha kudos to you guys :)

water in a 20 gallon must get dirtier than a bigger tank.... more waste accumulates in a smaller space more quickly than a bigger space.

The smaller the tank and the less water it is able to hold, the more frequently it needs to be cleaned.

I clean my 75 gallon once a week. the sick thing is that I kind of enjoy it.
