Actually Pizza from what people have said here, the turtle bone is the exact same thing as a regular cuttlebone sold in the bird section with the backing still on.

I think what Flutterby said is true. The only thing different about the turtle bone is the section of the store it's sold in.

On the subject of how much work it is to maintain small vrs big setups, I can personally attest that when you finally get a first rate setup and equipment - large tank, good filter, et al - you'll be amazed at how much easier it is to maintain. A large tank and filter are expensive but definitely worth working towards.

If you don't want a tank or a clear rubbermaid container, get stock tank. You can get them at TSC really cheap. I got my 50 gallon tank there for under 20.00. With my tank I have a Fluval 4plus in tank filter, and a Tetra Whisper filter for 30-60 gallon tanks attached to the side. Works great!
