Hi my males res has not ate in a few days. When I checked on him I noticed he is stretching his neck and legs way out and is shedding on his skin. Our filter broke so for a few weeks I was draining, refilling, and treating his aquarium every 3 days. His new turtle specific filter was installed last Friday and a conditioning block put in and now he's shedding. Is this normal? I saw ur comment on dirty water is why I am asking here. His water temp is 81 and I am using a plant grow light till a new housing comes in on his basking area.

I would check other aspects of his setup. Some things should be avoided however, like plant grow lights, turtle specific filters, and conditioning blocks.

I thought a turtle specific filtration system would be best? The light was temporary till his bulb came in.

NO, most turtle specific stuff is overpriced and inadequate. Some is completely unnecessary and some is potentially harmful. I'd stop using the light as it is not intended for turtles.
