It might be a good idea to isolate him until this is sorted out.

The musk is doing fantastic. His claws are now open and he has a huge appetite.

As with the baby red ear slider, we tried everything but we FINALLY got it to eat. It is eating for the FIRST TIME since I started taking care of it RIGHT NOW. I've tried dried shrimp - no. I've tried pellets - no. I've tried lettuce - no. I've tried live fish - no. What worked for it was BRINE SHRIMP. BRINE SHRIMP IS THE ANSWER. It's eaten at least 25 already. We got them at a local fish store for 1 dollar for an ounce of live brine shrimp. The shrimp are so tiny that it's a perfect fit for the turtle.

Unfortunately, the RES has died. His entire shell was very soft to the touch. I hope the food did not kill it. The musk turtle ate the same food and it looks fine.

I suppose it was too late.

No, because there were issues with space. However, the musk turtle never basks so I decided that it would be fine. The RES rarely went in the water; it was always on the rock.
