Hey everyone- me and my RES are currently in lower manhattan and won't have power until late Saturday at least. With the electricity out, her tank is getting colder and dirtier and I'm concerned. I've been adding hot water but it doesn't last long. Anyone have any suggestions? Would dry docking be better maybe?

Some people wrap blankets around the tank to help keep the heat in. You can definitely take her out, room temps around 75F is fine. Some ideas here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=33603

What's the water level and temperature? It might also help if you lower the water a TINY bit so that the hot water you pour has less to heat up.

Good Luck & Gd BLS!

also... although i don't know how much this may help but i think its worth a look:

and still...if it gets really bad (or if you just want to try,) try putting candles or some type of a heat source around the tank to raise the room temperature which... might also raise the water temp. :)

This must be so scary; I don't know what I'd do if we lost power here. I'd have to make a human-turtle cave in the closet and keep everybody warm or something.

Keeping them in a small room or closet is a good idea. Maybe water bottles can be used to safely keep things warm.
