Hello, My name is Brandy :) I am the mother to a 4 year old daughter and we have 3 pet turtles. Myrtle has been with us for about a year and a half now. She was bought from a big chain pet store. She has was already 4+ inches when we bought her, and she was not very friendly. About 6 months ago I was walking up my sidewalk and come across a quarter sized turtle basking in the sun on the sidewalk; that is Baby Picasso. We added him to the tank and they have been friends since. Now earlier today some neighbors were getting rid of their turtle and brought it to me. It is about 3 years old, and it's shell is the weirdest thing I have ever seen. It has the appearance of a bowl I will try to post some pictures of him. I am very curious about what is going on with this turtles shell. (his name is Turtle).

I have had turtles in the past. They are wonderful, easy to care for pets. I am always know as the Turtle Lady by the kids..

I LOVE TURTLES!!! I hope to learn alot from this site to help me learn how to better take care of my wonderful little turtle kids

After some research I found some pics of what Turtle looks like. It looks to be that he has had very poor living conditions that have lead to vitamin deficiency and a deformation of his shell. (It is possible that it is just a genetic defect) but with the red swollen eyes and flaky pasty shell i believe it is the poor living conditions. I am concerned if he is in fact sick that he will make my other turtles sick. But he is just laying in the basking light, not getting into the water. I will go tomorrow to try and find some turtle dip help clean his shell. Keep Turtle in your thoughts and prayers, he probably has a long road of recovery ahead.

I am amazed that there was a quarter sized turtle just basking out on the sidewalk. That never happens here. What luck! :D
Hope your other one (Turtle) gets better soon. It feels great to rescue these guys from bad situations and then have them look so much healthier and happier once you get them situated.
