Well the turtles at the pet store sheared the head of the fish off and ate the rest. So maybe fish heads....

My RES would deliberately go after the head first. He's then take his time eating and ripping it apart. It was very unpleasant for me, but it was the only thing he would make an effort to eat at the time.

hi. so guess what? dumbork didn't touch the fishies!!

we thought she'd rip them to shreds once we left the fishes there, but no, all three were crazily swimming around when we got home.
of course, we fed dumbork the moment we arrived from our trip, and we gave her one extra pellet for being good! :D

dumbork14 On that note. My G/f and i have a 300 gallon stock tank. I would put 100 feeders in the stock tank, and after a week or 2 there wouldn't be any left. Beginning of each month added 100 more. Well after 2-3 months i realized that some survived in hiding and others were mating!!! So now we have a nice goldfish pond! Some of the feeders who were not bigger than an inch are up to 6''. I fully studied feeders and learned: how they make a huge mess and carry a lot of diseases and how you should just avoid them all together!

As it turns out, after a while of constant feeding feeders, turtles get bored and don't eat them!

yeah, about the diseases, that's my concern too. i think i read somewhere that their wastes may cloud up the water levels of the tank (ammonia-nitrite-nitrate), and since i'm still paranoid on my water levels, i immediately scooped them out.

i thought of giving the fishes to my niece, but after a few hours, the poor things bellied-up. :(
i also think that dumbork is just a lazy turtle -- she would swim after them for a few seconds, then give up. i think i have a video of her somewhere where the fishies is RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER FACE, and she didn't even care :D it's like she's saying"meh-i have bigger fish to fry". hahaha! :D
