I'm Sheldon and from Durban, South Africa. After wanting some form of aquatic turtles for quite some time, I finally stumbled onto a pet store that was selling very small RES, under 2". I bought two and my brother bought two, and then we started the research on the best habitat and care for the little guys. We both have a very nice set up at the moment and all seems to be going well. I have had a few issues with my little guys, one had a RI and after a course of anti-biotics he(she?) seems to be doing better, but the other one on the other hand had a bigger problem. He had a reoccurring prolapse, and after going back to the vet for the third time after the prolapse popped out again, the vet suggested that the only options were either to put the little guy down or try figure out what exactly the prolapse is and try amputate a portion of it. I opted for the extra surgery, and touch wood, he seems to be doing better, he is active, eating and appears to be a happy little turt again!
