Have you tried leaving a leaf of lettuce in the tank overnight? I use a clip with a suction cup. My turtle first took to carrots, I would peel strips off with a peeler and clip it to his tank. Eventually he took to trying lettuce. You could also try the turtle jello shot recipe, its a sticky at the to of the food and nutrition page. How big is your turtle?

I wouldn't worry about it now. Try leaving some freshwater aquatic plants in your tank. They will live in the water if your turtle doesn't eat them.

Try some Anacharis. Most every pet store carries it in the fish section. It's really cheap, the turtles can eat it, and it's one of the aquatic plants that can pull nutrients from the water without being rooted. If your turtle knocks the plant around and it's floating all over the tank, it will still be able to grow. Some of the other aquatic plants will live for a few days but need to take root to survive.

Good call Veipa, I had an Anacharis floating in my tank for a few weeks and it did well.
