Here is a website for PETA, an animal rights group. I hope that they might know of where to find a vet where you are since they have so many connections worldwide. I'm sure if you email them they can maybe help you out. Worth a shot. I tried to locate a vet there but as you said there are none. I hope that your vet can give you the antibiotic and he gets better.

Thank you sooo much jessibuck for ur concern and help, i emailed peta and hope they get back to me! Marisa thank you again, i called the animal vet and asked him if he has the antibiotics you mentioned, he has the Baytril and tomorrow i will go and take pooky with me so he weighs him and give him the proper dosage and teaches me how to inject pooky. Today i woke up and found pooky in the water, all day he spent sleeping in the water, then when i held him up to put the Cod liver oil he peed, i dunno if its good coz it means he drank water? i looked at his eyes they were both open and a bit better, i attached a picture of him to check it out, do i continue with the Cod liver oil or do i stop it? thank you so much, i appreciate everything you guys doing!

If you think the cod liver oil is helping, a daily application would be OK. If you don't think it's helping, then stop it.

What kind of light are you using in the basking area? Is it a UVB bulb?

Glad to see his eyes look a little better!

Steve, marisa and jessiebuck Thank you so much for your help and advice, pooky is doing much better, i didnt give him the antibiotics coz i felt he is recovering by himself and didnt want the antibiotics to clash! I really appreciate everything coz to be honest with you i felt pooky wont make it, but Thank God he did and hopefully soon he will eat again. i attached the latest pictures for pooky and yea jessiebuck im using uvb light in the basking area but im getting them out in the morning to bask under the natural sun before it gets cold.. BTW my res bully shell plates are peeling off after basking in the sun, its healthy right? Thank you again and you will be in my prayers!

Good job, but yes concentrate on getting Pooky to eat. And shedding thin layers of scute is normal. Keep it up Pooky!

Glad to hear he's improving. From the looks of the shell, there are areas of scute that definitely need to shed, so if he's shedding, that's good.:D

BTW, what do you feed Pooky?

hmm..this sounded like an RI and the way the turtle looked in photos definitely looked like RI which caused the eyes to flame up like that... one of my RES adults are looking like that too and not moving much plus not eating... so im gonna try to take her to the sun and apply cod liver oil more often...

congrats on a healthy turtle now sireen!

Hi Sireen,
May I quick ask, when you soaked your turtle in Babylyte, how high is the water? did the water cover the shell?? Because I plan to do the same thing as well, before taking my RES to vet. If it possible, I don't want to bring him to vet, as well.. :(

My RES eyes just like yours swollen and there is something like tissue covering it, maybe it's the skin around its eyes that shedding. I apply cod liver oil for 3 days already, now, he only can open one of his eye. And it also doesn't want to it. No appetite at all.

I bring him under the sun already, but he just as weak.. I bask him all night, and this morning I saw there was buble came out of his nose. I didn't hear any sound while he is breathing.. I wonder if there is anything that I can do. I really wish to see him healthy and happy again. Thx for the help..

Sounds just like mine. Usually she won't eat what she can't see. I used zoomed eye drops, it was a temp fix. Maybe soothing the eyes to help them open then I'd feed her. If those symptoms persist I would call a vet. I don't know if it's easy for a RES to fight an RI on its own. After getting the antibiotic for the 2nd time she's become very active again.
