What is the best turtle to buy, besides the Red Eared Sliders?

What are your favorites?

Yellow Belly Sliders are great. Since I have had mine, she seems a lot calmer then my RES by far and don't seem to be scared at all really..

ouachita maps are very outgoing in my opinion. I had great success with mine since it was the first out of the three other map turtles (that I got at the same time) to start swimming and such oppose to just hiding in the corner waiting for me to drop food in and leave then get the food after if my RES doesn't eat it first. Oh Corey, try dropping some red leaf lettuce or romaine lettuce. My ouachita just loves to munch on them. It took me a while to find any left overs when I put them in my tank but then again, all four of my turtles eat it so eh, go figures.

If I hadn't randomly ended up with a RES, and actually researched turtles first, I would have went with a painted probably. They are so pretty, with the coloration. Not saying that RES aren't pretty, but RES coloration is much harder to see unless you are up-close.

I agree with Sinister, Yellow Belly Slider. Close to a RES and just a bit calmer.

missisipi map turtles
Mine have great personalities
After collecting them from the seller,
I place them in my tank
And guess what.....
Not like my bro's res which stress down there,
because they aren't familiar with new surrounding,
BUT my mapies start chasing fish once they get in and swim everywhere
they always get used to new surrounding after a few sec.=)
