Hey guys,

I have a large floating dock for my RES, but the suction cups won't stay on the glass, do you guys have some special ones of some sort...I have the clear transparent ones and they keep coming off and the dock floats around.

mine never fall off, although for some reason once and only once my turtle decided it would be a good idea to pry it off the side of the tank

I've never had problems with the basking dock suction cups. But the ones for the heater...If Charlie is bored one day he will pry them from the tank glass, and I would stick them back, and then he would pry them again, and I would stick them back...etc...you get the idea. And then for a week or so he won't touch them again, and one day the circus will start all over again.

My little guy knocks them off frequently and that causes them to go bad fast. If you have the zoo med one I would put the part with the bar above the rim. If you have an acrylic one I would glue them on there.

You could also replace them or be like me and build one without suction cups.

Do this assuming you have the time and patience...

Drain the water down to just below where the bottom cups stick. Wipe down til dry on all the cup spots. Now take the cups put some aqarium sealer and seal the cups to the glass... put the drained water back in assuming you bucketed it and problem solved.

You could replace your heaters suction cup clips with these: http://www.zoomed.com/db/products/EntryDetail.php?EntryID=97&DatabaseID=2&SearchID=3&SearchContext=YTo2OntzOjg6IlNlYXJjaElEIjtzOjE6IjMiO3M6MTA6IkRhdGFiYXNlSUQiO3M6MToiMiI7czoxNToiUHJvZHVjdENhdGVnb3J5IjtzOjIwOiJBcXVhcml1bSBBY2Nlc3NvcmllcyI7czo3OiJIZWFkaW5nIjtzOjg6IkFxdWFyaXVtIjtzOjg6IlNlYXJjaF94IjtzOjI6IjI0IjtzOjg6IlNlYXJjaF95IjtzOjI6IjIwIjt9. A little pricier but they work well.

your suction cups are probably just old and need to be replaced. for me, i just hung the dock on the side of the tank and put up cardboard barriers so torti couldnt get out.
