Habitat - Indoor :: Incandescent Heat Bulb!??

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

So we bought a red incandescent heat bulb (brand is Zilla) for Charlies (RES) basking area from the local aquarium store & it only lasted a week! (we're on our 2nd one this week)
Is there any difference between these ones & the regular incandescent red bulbs you can get at your local hardware store for half the price? Are they ok to use for this purpose? :?:

thanx :)

When used for turtles, the red and blue tinted bulbs are just as effective as regular incandescent bulbs. This is because turtles bask during the day, which would be the hot hours of the sun. The red bulbs are intended for dry-climate, nocturnal lizards and snakes that require night time heat.

I just use plain old household incandescent bulbs for heat. I believe I use the frosted type, because they`re only .88c for a 4 pack :D

You got to watch what you stick a normal bulb into.

The 2 lamps i bought like absorbs the heat of the bulbs and dont give off any heat. You actually have to stick a heat bulb in there to get it to give off heat. needless to say i never used those lamps lol.
