Well at least you dont have to worry about breeding.

I wonder if it will calm him down like in other animals?

Hey guys thanks for all the messages!

Just picked up Sushi from the vet and he's a little calmer than usual probably in some slight pain or disorientation from anaesthetic, but otherwise good. Still hasn't eaten, but then again I was recommended not to feed him today anyway, and I don't think he'll have much of an appetite after surgery. For now things are looking good. I wonder if his behaviour will change or not? Probably not drastically.

Anyway I'll update if there are any other changes, thanks again!

Hey guys, it's been nearly two weeks since Sushi's incident and in all that time all he's eaten is a pellet's worth of food. I could understand him not eating for the first week as he was in pain and was then operated on, but it has been nearly another week since the operation and he's only eaten once; barely. Any advice? I've tried feeding him veggies, pellets, dried prawns etc... don't have any live bait. I'm concerned as he just basks or bobs in the water.

Thanks

Is he on any meds? Some, like Baytril, will surpress the appetite while he's on them.

A call to the vet that did the procedure would be good...

Sometimes my turtles would ups and stop eating for a while when they were little, but not any more. I say a call to the vet would be a smart choice. There could be another underlying problem that was undetected before. Not trying to scare you, but a blocked bowel would make him not eat and that's in the area...
Who ever said turtles were slow?
