That said, I try to keep a few pieces of cuttlebone in the tank all the time. The need for it varies, and this is reflected in how long my turts take to eat it (or not).
If they act like they need more calcium than what I give them, I usually put extra in. They seem to know when their bodies need it, and they consume it as they see fit.
Toomuch- Your turtles are going to try to eat or at least attack/bite anything new that goes in the tank. For that reason, please be careful in the future what you put in the tank. I used one of those conditioner tabs too, and nothing happened to my turtles, but I guess some are just more sensitive to it than others. Calcium sulfate, what the turtle tablet is made of, isn't the right kind of calcium that they need anyways. (They should have calcium carbonate). I recommend a liquid conditioner for you in the future.
