Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I just found a place that sells water lettuce and the owner let me have some duck weed as well, but before I just dump it in Chargers tank I wanted ot make sure I was doing it right.

I know both are aggressive growers so I was wondering if I should keep them in another container and just put a bit at a time or just let him have at them. He is in an indoor tank not a pond if that matters, any suggestions are welcome, TIA!

Did you get a few plants of water lettuce? I would recommend putting just one plant in the tank at a time, and you can keep the rest outside in a pond or a fountain. You'll want some surface agitation in whatever you put them in so it doesn't become a mosquito breeding ground.
Last year, I did this with some water hyacinth. The ones inside got eaten almost immediately. The ones I saved outside grew quite well. Every once and a while I'd break off a plant and give it to the turts.

It was a main largeish plantwith two smaller plants attached by shoots, I cut one of the shoots off and put it in there. He already was munching on it when I left for work:) I will try to get a small pond type set up outside to keep the rest of it, I just really dont want the duckweed to take over! thanks for the reply!

You don't need a whole pond set up. Last year I used a big flower planter (I plugged the hole with some silicon) and then I put a small fountain pump in it. This year I might try using an old Fluval internal filter for surface agitation. Haven't got a chance to go to the pond store yet.

I was thinking about using a long flat tupperware container and an old aquarium pump, I dont have the room for a whole pond being in an apt and all:) I was thinking about putting a few minnows in the tupperware to help keep mosquitos out along with the moving water. O and I guess this shouldn't be in the indoor habitat link, sorry to anyone it bothers:(
