We adopted our RES off craigslist over a year ago. He was so malnourished and unloved it was really sad!

We immediate got him a basking spot, heat lamp, new uv bulb, plants, rocks, big filter, etc. They gave him a 50 gallon acrylic tank and a stick. That was it! Oh, and they had a filter that could handle 20 gallons.

He was very small and now has grown lots :) His name came about because every time he sees me (mom) he scrambles off his basking spot, tries to climb THROUGH the tank and swims back and forth watching me ... waiting to be fed. I can feed him and no matter how often, much/less, what I feed him, he will panic and try to get to me. I could be a good 20 feet away and he'll see me and kamikaze off the wood and *SMACK* into the side of the tank. He thinks hes got to be right there when Im around.

We let him walk around the kitchen and living room every week. He gets tired of course and finds a good hiding spot. The cats love to follow him around and get him to hiss at them. They always let me know where Seymore has taken 'refuge'.

We found this site and forum a while back when we wanted to know what to feed him (that was proper and not pet store propaganda) and what is the best way to care/feed/etc for him :) We even found out that Seymore was a Seymore and NOT a girl from here.

We love having him here and our 4 mo old granddaughter cant take her eyes of him swimming back and forth.
