i just chjecked over my turts tonight and found that one of them is missing a claw. could it have been bitten off by herself or another turt? They all have always gotten along. There is nothing in the tank that she could have gotten hurt on. I am sending pics of their new basking area but this is new.I looked back at some older pics and then noticed her missing claw. What could have happened??

I would expect a male claw to break off, but there does look like an amount of flesh is gone. There doesn't look like anything in your tank may be a hazard. Regardless of how it happened, definitely keep an eye out for aggression.

Plus, you may want to do a water change to make sure the injury does not get infected. You should also contact a vet for any advice regarding treatment, if necessary.

i will take her to our vet, and do a water change. the water in the pic looksdark cause the lights are off. my son was sleeping and the tank is in his room. I wish I could find out what happened.

One of mine is missing a claw too, but it seems like it just popped off, no bleeding or anything else, doesn't seem to be in pain, he just goes about his business. :?
