Feeding and Nutrition :: don't feed too much at a time?

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I was reading a book and was told that never to give a turtle more than it can eat. Does it means don't make them full?

Also, how many times a day should I feed my turtle?

Most turtles will continue to eat even after they are full.

How big is your turtle?

Like Arisu, most RES will eat until they throw up, then eat some more.

Most people feed their turtles once a day, or once every two days.

Turtles under 4" should be fed a head-sized amount of pellets every day, while larger turtles can be fed a head-sized amount every second day.

I know this has been answered before but I wanted to ask again not only for my benefit but the OP incase he is wondering this as well. While most people with turtles over 4" feed them every other day would it hurt to feed them once every day like you'd expectr them to if theyre turtle was under 4" ?

you can feed a turtle over 4 inches once a day but you should only feed half a head full instead of a full head full

You can break up the amount of pellets into any number of meals. It's just that turtles over 4 inches start growing dramatically slower than their younger counterparts so overfeeding is a big risk. Since they're not growing fast, all that extra protein from too many pellets will translate into pyramiding and stress on the organs.
