what kind of lights are you using for the basking platform?
Horsepower is how fast you hit a wall. Torque is how far you move a wall

I am using the clamp lamp ESU REPTILE good up to 150 watt lamp not for use with heat emitters.

I am not really crazy about them they are kind of hared to place if u don't curl the goose neck over. I'll post a pic to show u what i mean. ok went to take a pic and battery was dead it is charging! i will post after and show u the problems with this lamp. i find the dome lamps seem to be the best choice

I am still a beginner in the reptile hobby even though I had my turtles for a year now . mind u a lot of my success was trial and error, pertaining to the products available to turtle keepers. I tried it all. heaters, lamps, doc's, filters, 20 gallon longs, 180 gallon tanks, 100 gallon tanks, different florescent fixtures, I have enough extra stuff for at least 3 more set ups.
which I will probably do in time. I would love to get a MATA MATA and a couple of more exotics. but first I need a place to expand my hobby which I am looking into, because my wife thinks I lost my mind which I probably have or it could be a mid life crises, A lot of you younger people will find out about that soon enough  .So i will post the details on the lamps and my experience with them. In about an hour or so. DAM SAT. NIGHT AND HOME ON A FORUM U KNOW IM GETTING OLD!

I thought about that also and let me tell ya! my tank has been like that for a year now Until I finally finished my basking area, and never once did they ever try to clime out hell I couldn't even get them to clime on the Dam basking Area, let alone clime out of the tank  but non the less you are 100% correct I will put the plexiglas back.

just finished rearranging my lights and the plexiglas is back on the front so turtles won't climb out, bought another xtra large zoo med basking area to keep on other side of the tank with uvb and heat lamps on both sides and the plexiglas front is back on had to add couple of wood supports for the dome fixtures which i find much better that the clamp on fixture that I have in the other picture. here are the pics now.
