Habitat - Indoor :: Is this a good deal ?

I just went thru the same situation about 2 weeks ago.

My suggestion: If the size, color and details are *exactly* what you want then its almost a good deal -- Offer $125 and stick at $150.

I've seen a 60g long tank with unfinished wooden stand offered new for $180 (cash price, tax included, no extras).

I bought this (almost the same setup) on craigslist 2 wks ago for $150 --

60g tank (watertight I tested it yesterday)
wooden stand
used fluval 304
used eheim 2213
tetra 200W heater
repti-glow full spectrum 61cm bulb
fluorescent tube light fixture
a bucket of 7-9" smooth flat rocks for basking

All used by one owner and all in one deal.

My space is small so looks and fit were very important. The main point is that if looks and size (space considerations) are important then paying a bit more for what really works is worth it.

i know petsmart sells a 45-55g tank that has a metal mesh top. its sold as a reptile tank and its only warning is not to fill it more than 50-75% full (can't recall exactly). and if i recall correctly its under $200. and for a stand you have two options really; find a cheap one at wal-mart or build on from 2x4, 4x4, plywood, etc.

I would not buy a reptile tank (terrarium) they are not meant to hold water. The glass isn't as enforced as an aquarium.
