Urgent Care :: my turtle cut her head and chin when she escaped last night.

Besides Neosporin what can I do? Her head is taking a long time to scab up and continues to bleed, although very slowly. What can I do?

You should take some pics of the wound to assist us determining treatment.

You can always take the little guy to a vet just to be safe.

How bad is the cut? Have you cleaned the wound? My RES was injured about two months ago (on the head like yours), and I cleaned the wound with Nolvasan, let it dry and applied Neosporin. He was kept out of the tank for about a week and was allowed in clean water to eat and get hydrated. I checked the wound daily and reapplied the Neosporin as necessary. The wound eventually formed a scab and slowly healed.

I wonder...has anyone ever tried using liquid bandaid on a turtle cut? The idea just popped into my head, and it seems to me like it would work really well. It's waterproof and it sloughs off whenever the injury is healed.

I wondered that myself, but I am afraid it isn't good for the turtle. I mean, it stings when I use it on myself and is it toxic to them? I tried finding out online, but found no results. Her head seems to e healing. I found this stuff called Bio Bandage. It is normally used for fish that have a cut or something, but the people at Elmer's Aquarium said it works rally well on aquatic turtles too. It come sin powder form. I have been changing the water almost daily to keep it clean.

I had considered using liquid bandage on my RES's cut, but decided against it because wounds will heal better when they're kept moist, and not allowed to dry out.
