I have a vet friend who told me to never set up a big (bigger than 10-20 gallon) tank. She kept telling me how hard it was to clean, what trouble... clearly she treats cats and dogs (haha). My tank is very clean. She was shocked.

The canister filter and the python - two must haves! Oh and the turtle! Good luck and have fun shopping.

BWAHAHA!!!!!

Hahhaha it would be very nice water! Iv actually had someone ask me what was in my aquarium, I was like, well its a turtle, and I pointed to Rossco swimming around in the tank. The guy was feeling pretty stupid.

Bulldog- Thanks for that thought, there are some really well priced ones on ebay for sure! And most sellers ship to canada for about $60 :D

Gremlin and Mat- I agree with you guys for sure. Filter comes first and then tank.

Chris and Octpusgirl- Thank you for your input :) The xp3 is a pretty nice option too

Mat- I was thinking about 2 filters too (up to 100 gallons each) but then saw that the FX5 can do up to 400 gallons and I can probably get it for about the same price as the 2 100 gallon filters if I were to buy the FX5 on ebay.

Lol I think iv swung towards the fx5

I have the FX5 on a 75 gallon. It's honestly the first time I ever set up such a large tank, so I don't have much to judge it against, but I love it. My 75 is cleaner then my 20 gallon ever was (zoomed501 filter) and my 10 gal goldfish tank (biowheel). I'm not very mechanical and I don't have a problem running this filter. Changing media was a snap. The tiny 501 was actually more of a pain to use then the Fluval! I got it on Ebay for $200 shipping included.
