Habitat - Indoor :: Just got an 80 gallon tank for 20 bucks

I found this tank on craigslist for 20 bucks. I am pretty happy and im sure once i get it up and running im sure that the turtles will love it too.

I just need to build a stand for it because i dont think that the ikea tables mentioned in my last post wont handle 80 gallons worth of water.

Also, what do you think. will these demesions be good for my RES? the tank is 60x12x24.



I guess it is too late now, But i can always sell it again for more than i paid for it.

Nice find! I'm sure your turtle will be very happy with his new home!

Make sure you check that it's water tight outside before bringing it inside and give it a nice bleach (10% bleach in water) bath and let it FULLY air dry, at least 24 hours, before putting the water in for your turtle.

Ya, I'd make sure it's water tight before you use it. It looks kind of old. Check the silicone seams, too.

yeah i was going to take out all the old silicone because some has already peeled off. Also i need to make a wood enclosure for it. So it will still be awhile before i have a chance to get it in the house.

Also, is 12" wide going to be ok for my guys?

Neither can we! Lol, i am going to have to build a cabinet for it. But i could not pass it up.

A great find! I'm not crazy that the width is 12". It should be fine for a non-adult and as you had mentioned you can sell it down the line or trade up.

yeah i figure that the 12" will only last until they get like 6" each, but by that time it is time to upgrade anyways.
