Good morning from Canada.

I found your site while looking for turtle information after we brought ours home. I have a 2 month old Midland Painted Turtle. We've named him Theodore Kentucky the 3rd (long story). We just call him Theo.

We would have run him over if we hadn't seen him, so I'm so glad we did. He was still shedding his yolk sac when we found him and I don't think he'd even made it to the lake yet from where he'd hatched. We were told that he only had about a 10% change of surving had we left him, so we brought him home. He's so cute and I'll post some pictures when I can finally get some good ones.

Anyway, good to meet you all and I'm looking forward to learning from some people who know first hand.

That's probably a general statistic that 1 out of 100 hatchling turtles will survive to adulthood. That's pretty normal I think for many wild reptiles.

Welcome to the forum! I'd love to see photos too. We've got several very pretty painted turtles on here but I think yours will be the very first Midland Painted.
