Hey, I just got a 50 watt stealth heater for my 20 gallon long tank but I want to use it in my ten gallon tank until I get it set up because I have learned a heater is the best life insurance for a turtle. There is about eight gallons in there so I would like to know if I can set it to something low like 74 so it will work properly. Also, I am having trouble getting these suction cup things on...Please help.

The 50-watt should be OK for the 10-gallon tank. The Stealth heaters seem to allow a wider gallon range than some other heaters (a wattage will say it's for a bigger tank than other heater brands of the same wattage). In a pinch I once used a 150-watt Stealth in a 10-gallon tank for a little while. It didn't seem to get that warm for me.

For the suction cups, you are talking about fitting them into the holder pieces? I remember that I had to push and twist to get them into place.

I never used this kind before and I think I have to push them into thise piece that slides up the heater so I can attach it. I still cannot get it in.

I can't remember if the holes are completely round...As you push, kind of twist the knob, work it into the hold until it goes in.

Yeah, they are round. I am pushing something round into something that is round...this is worse than the zoomed suction cups!!!!

Well, if I ever do get them on, at least I will know I can use it in the tank.

I slip the holder on and I see the hole where it appears the Suction cup should fit into, but that can't be right since it would be right up against the plastic? There's no directions and I am not good at simple things like this

I finally got it...since it is fully submersible the chord can be in the water right?

yeah, those suction cups are REALLY hard to get on! I've had 2 of the Visi-therms. There is a TINY notch on the holders that you have to sorta get the lip of the suction cup knob into and then push and twist at the same time. Also, put the cups into the holder BEFORE you slide the holder onto the heater unit itself....much easier!
