I have a fluval 4 plus and i have a quick question. Can i leave it on if the nozzle where the water comes out is above the water?

Hmm that's tricky..I wouldn't. Do you have it laying in the water or standing up? Cause it can stand up and do that, but laying down I wouldn't do that.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that it wasn't a good idea, I don't know if it was just a practical suggestion to eliminate noise or if it could really cause a problem. I can't remember for sure so I just make sure it's fully submerged. (I bought Napoleon a fluval 3 today because his 2 wasn't cutting it anymore, and built a plexiglass 'fence' for his tank so I could raise the water level without him escaping! I'm very excited!)

Do you mean so that the water bubbles up like a fountain (if its suctioned to the bottom of the tank)? I think I remember doing that and it created a fair amount of turbulence and noise. I used keep the nozzle turned to one side as far as it would go (toward the wall of the tank) and have it just under the water.

I forgot about the noise it will make. Im just going to leave it standing upright but just slightly crooked to make sure it is under the water. The nozzle will point to the wall.
