Equipment Review and Discussion :: Good/Safe Turtle Water Conditioner/Dechlorinator?

Just wondering, if there is any particular brand of water conditioner that is preferred, or better to use on the water for turtles?

If you mean to dechlorinate the water, get one that will eliminate both chlorine and chloramine. Reptisafe and Amquel are two brands that are popular.

From your previous post I picked up that you have a 75 gallon tank. Reptisafe is a wonderful water conditioner, but it's sold in small quantities and can become expensive. Amquel and Amquel plus do everything that's neccessary and can be bought in large quantities. It's up to you, both of them are wonderful products from what I've heard.

On a side note, though I assume that fish water conditioners don't work as well as ones made specifically for reptiles, they can still be used, right?

As long as the conditioner gets rid of chlorine and chloramines.. you're safe.

Probably not going to find shipping much cheaper. A 64 ounce bottle of liquid is not light. You can find it on ebay also:

It's cheaper to buy that big then go with the little 4oz bottles. I saw a 13oz one the other day for $8 bucks, but i think i'm going for the 64oz.

I didn't know there was a 64 oz. size. I can't afford $30 water conditioner when Amquel sells twice the amount for $25, and i picked that up when there was the free shipping. It's up to you though..

Reptisafe is great. I order mine from big als online. I think shipping is free for orders over 50.00 right now, so you could really stock up? tee hee.
