Here I am, posting again. I've had my RESs for a little over a week now, and the poor babies haven't been able to have a filtered tank. We don't feed them in there, so it has stayed pretty clean. We had gotten all equipment and everything from the previous owner. She has been unable to come take a look at the filter because of traveling a lot to see her ill father, which I understand.

She gave us a Rena Filstar XP Series Filter (I'm not sure which model, but it has three baskets in it, we have a large tank). It was working fine for her before she gave it to us. I have looked up multiple videos, read the manual and everything. The problem I'm having is that the input will not siphon into the canister to fill it up. I did prime it of course and I've tried this multiple times, but it for some reason won't work. I've also tried to just fill the canister myself, etc. All the parts are there and put together correctly, the input is about 5 inches above the bottom of the tank fully submerged in water, they are attached to the correct parts of the filter, but the stupid thing won't siphon.

Does anyone have any tips I could try? I know these things are expensive so I don't want to have to buy a new one. Thank you!

I've posted a few step by steps for priming this filter, I'll try to look it up. Also keep in mind that this model has had more issues than before (they moved manufacturing to Asia).
