Bowser is getting to be a chunky little turtle...nearly 7 inches long and looking more and more like an adult turtle!
Her current dock is getting a bit small for her and sinks a little bit. I've been reading about the Magnetic floating dock after seeing one at Petsmart yesterday....I'm wondering how well it would support a quickly growing female RES?
She's pretty heavy now.

One supports all three of mine (using it until I get around to making one)

Mine are 4" 3.5" and 2"

Bowser is really heavy now (for a turtle) and not gentle with things in her tank.
I like the material of this dock...she might not be able to destroy it.
Also, what about the magnets....will they harm the glass?

In general magnets cannot scratch glass. They aren't hard enough. I don't think I'd use magnets on a acrylic tank, but they are fine on glass.

Could they crack the glass from the pressure?

Nope - if the pressure gets to that point - they should just break connection ;)

Well now the main question I have is whether or not it could support Bowser. Chubby little turtle...

You could always swap out the magnets and glue in some rare earth magnets to increase the holding power. :D They aren't very expensive... but are probably an internet order.

She weighs about 1.5 pounds, so maybe see if it could support 2 pounds?

It held a pound and a half fine - but at two there started being tipping issues

I actually have one of these smaller ones at the opposite corner of my tank for Kodi to rest on. She always hung on the edge of the aquarium there to watch me or watch tv so i added her the resting spot. She's 5" now and the little one holds her up, if that gives you any kind of idea what the large might hold.

So we tried the new dock and at first I thought it would be great, but she kept struggling to get on top of it and every time that she was on it it looked like she was surfing it was so unstable. :(
Poor baby! While I was at work my dad put the old dock back in the tank until we find a solution.
We're thinking PVC pipe and using this dock as the top platform....hmm...
