ok, so i found a cupon that today was the last day for it. it was 30% off. so i went to that pet place and picked up a rena xp3 for 140.69$. i think it was worth it rather than waiting for shipping and what not. but now i have a question. im only upgrading to my 65 gallon in may(bc its my bday). so now do i just not use the xp3 until i upgrade? or do i try to hook it up to my 29 gallon tank? i have an ATBA on my 29 so it might be a lot fo re-working for just a couple of months.

so what do i do?

rs24 -- I am not sure how many gph xp3 has. I currently have a 350 gph on a 29 and it does fine. You have to be careful with the suction as they can get caught in it and you have to disperse the discharge to not have too much swirl in the water.

the xp3 does 350gph. and its supposed to be for 175gallon tanks. but i dont think its orth it to make all the modifications to my ATBA for 2 months.

well if it is going to be too big of a pain then i would say wait as long as you are keeping your tank clean now.

I agree, a few months isn't too long. If it would be too much trouble it really isn't worth it.

As for it being too strong, I had a similar question before about the FX5 for a 29 gallon. If you do decide to install it, check if you can adjust the flow. Mine can and it works just fine on he 29 gallon tank. Although I do have quite a large turtle and an ATBA as well.
