Equipment Review and Discussion :: Hydor Inline Heater Vs. Stealth Heater?

I am going to be ordering one of this come thursday but not sure which one is better. I want one that is easy to use. Accurately warms the water to withing a degree of what it needs to be. Also am looking for one that is sturdy and will last awhile.

I have heard pros and cons about both but am not sure which to get. Also they are about the same price from where i am looking the newer model of stealth is 40 and the inline is 45 dollars. So price does not matter.

A Stealth should only be about $20 US and the Hydor will be about $45 US. I think which type of heater you get depends on your tank type and size. Is it a glass tank on a stand? What kind of filter are you using?

it is a 55 gallon glass tank on a stand and i am using a eheim classic 2217 canister filter.

With your tank, I would be tempted to get the Hydor, but double check to make sure it will work with the 2217.

im leaning towards the hydor also. It says it will work with any filter that has 16mm hosing. I believe that is what the outtake tubing is on the ehiem.

also can a heater be too big for the size of the tank. I can only find a good deal on the 300w hydor inline filter but it says for tanks 53-80 my tank is never over like 45-50 gallons full. Would id still be okay or would i wear out the heater?

Well, a heater that is too large might turn on and off more frequently or keep the water too warm. It's close, but you should be OK.
