Has anyone forked out their pretty penny for a Fluval G filter yet?
Being that the base price is in the mid $400s I don't see one in my near future, but does anyone have an opinion on the filter for use on a turtle tank?

Looks like a really expensive waste!
For that money I can buy myself another pond filter/uv sterilizer, pond pump that throws out over 1500gph, the hoses and clamps for cheaper.
If it can clean 300 stock tank it will clean a much smaller aquarium XD

I got an email about it, I'm still trying to find its GPH and stuff so I can side by side it with the FX5.

G3
40-80 gallon aquariums
185gph filter circulation
365gph pump out put
G6
80-160 gallons
265 filter circulation
665 pump out put
seems like your paying a lot of extra money for some electronics on a filter that isnt as powerful as you would think.

With that comparison of the G3 & the G6 what would your own opinions be about those compared to the FX5 pricing aside.

Thats what I was thinkin myself just because of how well it does and all the rave it gets. I am curious what others think about the two series pricing aside.
I do like all the nifty new gadgets on the G series though heh

The light up screen is pretty cool. although i pretty much think anything that lights up is cool. probably why cujo's new air pump has LED's in it and his new heater as a light up LCD screen

For the mechanical filtration power that a turtle tank requires, I'd definitely go for the FX5 for it's sheer power.
For a medium sized saltwater tank or tropical fish tank I'd go with the G series because monitoring water parameters is so much more important. I think that's what Fluval had in mind while developing the G filters.
