Greetings freshprince!

I have two Eastern Painted's and I can say your new pet will make an excellent buddy.

I have used that website twice, and both times I received excellent service. I've ordered 3 turtles, two different species, and all came promptly and alive. In the box you'll also receive some starter food and instructions for care. However, the food is not as good as Reptomin and all the know-how on raising turtles is on this website, so you're covered.

I rate that company as A+

But FIRST, before ordering the turtles, do you have a set up ready for them to come home to?

That is the worst site to buy turtles from!! Don't do it!!
I got 2 musk turtles from them, and they arrived sick with a respiratory infection. The packing was horrible and the customer service just as bad.
Here is a review of that site.Wish i would have read this before purchasing

There is a reason that website shows up as "name removed". We strictly do not order from them because the turtles are almost always sick and ill-cared for.

freshprince - Where are you located at? We may know local places to get turtles from that are more reliable. Considering that you already have two RES, do you have the resources (i.e. $500+) to support another turtle? Remember that there are a lot of turtles that are in need to be adopted because irresponsible people got them, couldn't care for them, and now they are in foster care all over, so we strongly suggest that if you can, always adopt an unwanted turtle first. It's so much better than giving money to a breeder to further overpopulate the turtles!

I did research on reviews for "you know what" website and it appears that they have a very poor reputation among turtle enthusiasts.

However, I must say that I've used the company twice and both times had a positive experiance. The two RES and snapper from them are living happily and were active as soon as I took them out of the packaging.

Although I had a good experiance, it seems like it is more common to receive a sick or dead animal. I feel most sorry for the turtles, I wonder if there is a way for the ASPCA or similar organization to check on their conditions at the breeding/handling site. There wouldn't be so many ill turtles if they were being taken care of properly.

I agree with adopting an unwanted turtle. I own 3 and have 7 because I am the single foster parent for 4 turtles who couldn't be cared for.

freshprince - Check out petfinder.com, there are a few non-RES listed on there. You can also troll around on Craigslist, never know what random turtles will end up on there. Lastly, there is something at reptileexpo.com, where you can see and purchase various reptiles. One is coming up in Long Island (soon) and another in White Plains (late November).

Most of their problems come from the fact that they do not know how to pack turtles, specially in colder weather.
I bet the box you received your turtles in wasn't even insulated?? Mine wasn't and i ordered the turtles in march and it was still pretty chilly out.
Plus the fact that they even allow people the option to buy with 2nd day air is a no no all by it's self.

Looks like if you dont select it you just gave them free money lol. they spelled been wrong to XD

I was a mod on their message board. So many mad people posted saying turtles came in dead or sick. Dont order from there.

Yes they do.....
When you buy the turtles, you can select 2nd day air. Then the next day you get a phone call that you have to "upgrade" to next day air, or they will not ship your turtle, and you cannot get refund. So you upgrade and instead of spending $60 for sick turtles, you spend $100

Yea...... exactly what i said. Its to make some free money so if the person goes and finds its only gonna cost $60 they go okay that cheap enough and then they get that call and spend $100 so they dont lose the $60 but they dont actually ship 2nd day.

Check out http://theturtlesource.com/ there westerns are 20% off so now the price is actually decent there. Not an eastern but they look better. Idk what people are saying about it but everything looks top notch there.

Yup....exactly.
turtlesource [not reputable] is top notch. I never purchased from them personally cause their prices are absurdly expensive IMO, but others have had great experiences and say the customer service is outstanding.
In the last year i've generated relationships with top notch breeders all over the country, that have great prices and amazing collections of turtles and torts from all over the world.Just to mention a few :
Jay Frewer from turtlesandtortoises.com
Andy "The turtle Pimp" from Florida.
Ken from "Exotic Pets" in Las Vegas.
These are THE ONLY people i do business with :)
