Does washable mean the same thing as "water proof"?

Anyone ever used it successfully?

Because I'd love to be able to use this as a substrate, and not have it disintegrate on me.

Since it has "terrarium" in the name, I would almost say no. But if I recall, there is a turf thing that people on the board have used, and I think they get it from the pet store. There might be one that is better for water? Check out some of the photos people have posted to see if you can find someone that has used it before.

Huh... That's a very good idea. I'm gonna try that.

On rare occasions, for some reason, that website, while prices are very nice, refers to an aquatic turtle set up as a terrarium. Makes the descriptions very confusing. Thank god I have a brain sometimes, because I'm sure that tricks some people into buying the wrong stuff. (Sometimes... I'm no genius. I'll be the first one to admit to being a total ditz).

I'm using that stuff for my ATBA.

If you want somthing for the bottom of your tank. Ive seen people cut ridged vinyl flooring runner to fit the tank. I been meaning to do this but not in a rush since turtles are all outside still.

That's what I did on day one when I bought the tank. I read on some random website people recommending it so turtle claws wouldn't scratch up the bottom. I bought black floor runner at Home Depot I think, it's nice because you can buy it by the foot, so you don't have to have extra sitting around afterwards.

The only thing I can say about mine is sometimes debris gets trapped underneath, but if you just fluff it once a week, it all gets pushed back out and into the filter.

It's convenient too, if I needed to get the waste up, I'd just lift the tiles off of the bottom (while trying to keep them level) and shake them out over a trash can. There, problem solved.

I would be careful about putting a liner that a turtle could eat. Mine ate the carpet on a slide I had for them years ago and they got constipated. I was pulling carpet strans out of their rear for a week. Be careful!! m.

That's why we stopped putting tinsel on your Christmas trees. Our cats would eat it, and then we'd pull long silver strands of plastic right out of their butts.

Our orange tabby manecoon, Abraham, would also climb the xmas tree and sleep in it.
