Petsmart has these custom tubing kits for canister filters that look pretty cool! You can have up to 3 inputs (suction) which can be spread out along the bottom of your tank. Also for the output. You could have a spray bar, a power head kinda thing, and something else. All together. They are normally 39.99 and they have them on sale for 29.99.

Only problem is where they arch over the tank, it looks pretty restrictive.
I build acrylic ATBAs.

with more inputs you loose suction in each input tube so the ability for your canister to suck up the heavier solids could be restricted slightly.

Homebuilt sump filter at around 300 gph
3 African Chiclids in a separate tank.

I've seen the options but never been happy with the way they looked so that's why I hard plumbed my own. :)
