Various accessories and equipment discussed here.

I've got an algae magnet, and it works really well. Only problem is that it's hard to get the back of the tank, and I can't get the bottom of the tank. So I decided I should look for an algae scraper, the kind with the handle on them.

I looked at Petsmart first, and they had one with an 18" handle for $7.99 and a 25" one for $17. Frankie's tank is 24" deep. I almost bought the $7.99 scrubber, but thought I'd check out walmart first, but they didn't have anything. Then I was looking around a home store, and they had mops... This got me thinking. Algae scrubbers have a scrubby on one end, with a handle. Mops have a scrubby at one end, with a long handle. I checked out the local grocery store, and they had sponge mops for $3.39! Well, that sure beats a 7.99 scrubber and having to stick my arm in the water!

It's even got a little rough scrubby bit in the middle. I was going to shorten the handle, but it's actually not a bad size, and makes it easy to reach the bottom, back of the tank! Hurray ^_^

Yup, I'm always on the lookout for ways to save money for better turtle stuff ;)

Thanks for that tip. Does seem like an easier solution to cleaning the back of the tank.

hahahaha nice, who would have thought so many household items would become turtle material.

I wish I would need a mop...that would mean I have a massive tank hahaha like a 90 gallon :D

Ohh those mops with the flap to squeeze water out! Tried using that mop to clean a kitchen floor on campus once...Didn't do a damn thing lol. Just collected dust
