Various accessories and equipment discussed here.

Just got a bottle and used some in my little tank.

My question is how often should it be used?

And tomorrow when I fill up the 60 Gallon, how much should I put in? Should I stay with the 1 Tsp/ 5 Gallon direction?

just read the directions on the label. you only have to add it every time you put hard water in the tank. it is not something you regularly put in the water. it simply removes the hard minerals and chlorine from the water.

I think the ReptiSafe needs 32 drops per gallon. When I filled up my tank, I filled up a gallon jug and added 32 drops. Over and over and over ...

Seriously.

I just squirt in some aquasafe and call it good. Always on the stingy side so I don't overdo it.

Turtles can handle a little untreated water.. some fish keepers never use chemicals even on their delicate fish.

exactly. If reptiles (especially turtles) have survived since dinosaurs were alive, I'm sure they can handle a little bit of hard water or a little bit too much water conditioner.

You follow the label. I believe the label says one cap full for twenty gallons or something. If you have 60 gallons, that would be three cap fulls.

You only need to add it when you are adding more water to the tank, and then only add it for the amount of water you are adding, not for the size of the tank (unless of course you're refilling the whole tank).

Remember, the conditioner isn't just for the turtle. If too much chlorine makes it in, it can kill your bacterial colonies and make your water cloudy.

Ok thanks guys.

Oh and I've been told that I should wait at least 24 hours before I put the turtle in the new tank, so does that mean I can do it the next night. I'll put a few minnow in their first to make sure the water is suitable.

Yes, you can do it the next night, and no, don't put a fish in to test it. Fish are way more sensitive than turtles, so your fish will die in conditions that your turtle will be fine in. And no one wants dead fish contaminating your tank. I'm not sure why you would wait 24 hours, though. Normally that is to allow the chlorine to escape, but if you are using ReptiSafe, you don't need that. I put my turtle in her tank as soon as it came to temp, and she was fine.
