Does anyone have one of these?



The new natural-looking floating turtle log provides security, comfort, and stress reduction for aquatic turtles, newts, frogs, mudskippers, and tropical fish. The hollow resin log floats just at the surface so that turtles can bask on top of it or hide submerged inside. Bottom weighting prevents the log from rolling over, even with two 4" turtles on top. Log measures 12"L x 5.5"H x 4" inside diameter.

Looks kinda cool.

that does look cool, but your filter is going to create a current that'll move it away from the basking light. So, I'm not too cinvinced that it'd work to bask on, but it sounds like a great idea to hide in.

They float along so it wouldn't be the best basking dock. Also, make sure your turtles aren't big enough to get stuck in the holes.

I knew I saw a post on here that someone else had used this.. it was just new and we couldn't find any pictures of it on the web.. I finally found the post..

Yeah it deffenitly wouldn't work for basking. But it looks like something they would enjoy hiding in.

I saw that the other day at the pet shop. I saw that it said it could hold 2 4" RES. My only problem was, I have one 4" but i'm not sure if it could hold him once he got bigger (i.e. the holes would be too small b/c the box said it was just for 4" res.

Kneecole, do you think bigger res could fit through the holes in it?

The website said that the log is weighted so it doesn't flip over. But for the $35 price tag, you'd be better off getting cork bark.

Was actually thinking of getting one until I saw Flutterby post that it was $35.

$35 for that? Yikes. You can get a nice piece of corkbark for just about half that price (a really large piece).

I had thought about getting one when I first saw it, but at that price, I agree with marisa .. rather have cork bark Heck I got a nice piece for like $7 at Petsmart.

Ummm cork bark is the bark off a cork tree It's what they use to make the corks for wine bottles etc .. It looks like bark yet floats..

you could also build a pvc platform with a slate rockand then wrap aquari vines around it to hide the pvc for the same price and have it last for years.

I bought this turtle dock about 1 1/2 weeks ago for about $25 at either Petco or Petsmart (I can't remember). I have my it in my tank with my four 1 year old baby sliders in it. They love it! It took some getting used to but they enjoy basking on the top, hiding inside and looking out the windows, and also just hanging on the side. They seem to like to have it float around a bit. They are getting more exercise as before they had become pretty lazy - not swimming enough.

Just curious Pam, but how are you keeping it under the basking light/UVB light if it floats around? It looks like it would be loads of fun for a turtle except for that reason. I wouldn't want it to interfere with the amount of rays he gets.
