Various accessories and equipment discussed here.

I just got my egg crate (FINALLY).. I put my 75W spot lamp directly laying on the egg crate and it started to melt.. So I cut a descent sized hole where the light can go thru without burning anything, and just for a little more safety I put electrical tape around the remaining egg crate that touched the lamp, do you think I will have this problem again? I don't want my turtles to die and my apartment to burn down :/.. Thanks, D.

I don't think it's flammable. I've taken an open flame to it and it melted and scorched, but didn't ignite.
I think cutting the hole in it should be fine. When it was melting, was it melting where the lamp was touching it, or just where the light bulb was?

Also, how far is the lamp from the basking area now? You'll probably want to double check your basking temps, and make sure they're not too warm.
