Ok. I recieved my T-Rex 100 Watt Flood Light Bulb. Now I have to buy a 10" Ceramic Lamp. Any suggestions what kind to buy and where to purchase. I have a 50 gallon tank. Do I need to place the lamp farther than 12" away to allow for the break-in period? How long is the break-in period. Help, I would like to purchase it today. :)

doesnt really matter what kind as long as it is rated for at least 100 watts. you can get them at a pet store or a hardware store. when i had my t rex bulb i didnt place it far away for a break in period. ive never heard of a break in period for a bulb. i would just place it where the manufacturer recommends it. im assuming this is an MVB bulb too.

This is the T-Rex Active UV Heat bulb?

I got a 10" reflector dome with a ceramic base rated for 250 watts at Lowe's. You can probably also get a one at Home Depot or similar-type store.

There is no break-in period with these bulbs. Follow the mfgr's instructions for distance. Check the basking area temp with a thermometer.
